I live in London and have plenty of great rides on my doorstep. Going out very early was my favorite, but now I found the late evening / nights is pretty good too. I like it when I'm the only one around, even if saying that seems weird.

Some of my favorite rides are sometimes just a few miles from home. I have a few themes I keep up my sleeve for London:

Monopoly board - visit all the areas on one side of the board.
Cross all the bridges. Harder than it seems!
Travel the route of the number 9 bus. This passes many London sights.
Wet weather - look for neon signs. Pretend I'm in Blade Runner.
Foggy ride around parks and historic London by gaslight. Spooky!
Travel on the canal footpaths.
Ride the circle line stations.
Ride down the Thames on one side and back the other!
Go look for some graffiti. Actually not that hard :|
